Fun in French

Dear parents,

On a Wednesday morning we are now offering a French session entitled Fun in French for the 3-5 year olds who attend on this day. Anne Kelly, Elen’s mother, has kindly agreed to trial this valuable learning opportunity which started on Wednesday 18th April. She is experienced and her approach is very much geared to encouraging the children to learn in a very fun and exciting way. She brings with her a French puppet called Leo and during the first session the children really responded extremely well and were all eager to join in. For her visit she introduced the following words –

Je m’appelle… My name is ….
Oui\Non Yes\No
Numbers 1 to 5
Merci Thank you
Bleu Blue
Au revoir Good bye

The session starts at approximately 11.40am and is around 15-20 minutes in duration, which is appropriate to the childrens age and stage of development. The format involves a lot of actions and will be varied. Members of staff also join in with the session and are available for support. At the moment the session is on trial at the nursery and unfortunately can not be offered to all children who attend the nursery. This is due mainly to the numbers of the children that can be incorporated in a group, as 15 is really the maximum that the session is geared for, anymore would be difficult to manage and Wednesday is the only morning Anne is available.
